$ The Way to Change America $

(Be warned! This is a rant! Nothing more, nothing less. It is unorganized and you may have a hard time reading it…because it’s a rant. You have been warned.)

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 10

Who reading this hates taxes? I think we can get an overwhelming “ME!!!”. I cannot stand taxes either for the simple reason that it goes to a government I don’t trust. Maybe if they for once stayed inside a budget, the might begin to EARN my tax money.

For example, Jefferson County said we need a new sewer line, now they are hundreds of millions of dollars in dept (unfortunately this was not La La Larry’s final, hurrah) that Jeff Co. believes will never be paid off. Why did such a simple idea turn into a million dollar mistake that the people of Jefferson County have to pay for? The beluga whale himself decided that he was going to give the various contracting jobs to his friends who were just as competent as the guys who built Jeff’s giant building. So of course there was major mistakes that happened and well, the rest is not yet history.

Lately, this country has gotten itself into a little bit of an economic snag thanks to the money hungry few. A few brought down the world economy. The people that did this are relatively untouched by the disaster. They got a government bail out while the people that had their retirement funds locked up in the Market, saw their all but certain future get hit with and napalm bomb. (FYI they plan on doing this to us again, they are practicing the same things they were doing before the down turn thanks to the Doolittle congress, who has yet to pass any laws that would prevent this sort of thing to happen again.) Speaking of Congress, they hare estimated to be multi trillions of dollars in dept by the end of the decade. What would happen if you go to the bank and try to get a loan and you tell them, “I am going to be up to my Statue of Liberty in dept in the next few years, more money please.” Everything would be taken from you because you’re an idiot. But these guys are still in office?

Lets fix this problem shall we? I purpose we make a tax, and since I can already hear Glenn Beck calling me a socialist, have a coke and a smile and shut up. I purpose we have a massive tax on the pricks that got us into all this financial trouble! If you are a company that received a bail out, not only do you have to pay every thing back (with the same interest charged as the credit card companies (with no chance of bankruptcy)) but the top executives that were in charge DURING the collapse will have to pay in income taxes 90% of their paycheck until the company pays off their debt. Think that’s too much? They are making hundreds of millions, I think they will survive. If they decide they won’t to quit and its not their problem any more, I say we strip them of rights, take all of their belongings and they can work in a sweat shop in a new correctional program until their death.

For an example, today I was waiting at a red light so I could walk across the street. A handful of people decided that they don’t care if the light was green or not, they just wasn’t going to wait. So of course the oncoming traffic stopped and waited for these select few idiots to get out of the way. Then the light turned red, the white traffic walk guy came up so I started walking. I stayed inside the rules and no harm was done to my fellow right doers or me. This is kind of what happened in the collapse. A few people decided that they where going to walk in front of traffic and do the wrong thing. They messed up everything, there was traffic backed up for half a mile because of them. But what if, just what if, one of those cars said no. Its within the law for me to keep going so I am and the guy walking across just got clobbered! “Where are my shoes” sort of clobbered (don’t worry he isn’t dead, just messed up). That’s what a tax like that would do. It would force companies that think they are bigger than the system to get in line and follow the rules.

Another Kevin Brown fix, all these companies that ship work over seas, tax them or offer tax breaks! Make it where it is cheaper to offer work here than it is over seas. Working conditions on stuff we import should be inspected and business should not be done with companies that violate Human Rights laws and if they are then you will pay for it.

Big point coming up don’t miss it!

When the right thing is the cheapest thing, the greedy people of the world will WANT to do the right thing.

Will this ever happen? Hell no! I don’t even know what the overall economic out turn will be but neither does economists. No one really knows how the global market works because there are to many players cheating. Hit a cheater will a Volvo and I bet the markets will get a little more predictable.

I like a lot of these ideas, especially the one about buying from companies who violate human rights. I actually don't mind being taxed as long as the money goes to something worth while. Somebody's got to pay for the roads, schools, and jails that serve everyone's interest and not just mine. I'm ok with that.

I think that something that can be pointed out with the recession is that the private sector can be just as or even more corrupt than government - and it hurts us just as bad. Today I heard something about a possible Wall Street reform that will be introduced soon. I know nothing about it, but it will be interesting to see what happens with that given that it's exactly what your post is about.

Matt, next installment will be on fixing Alabama which will be much less of a rant and much more of an organized blog.
